Power Transmission Lines Monitoring
Protect critical infrastructure, facilities, and sensitive sites from breaches with round-the-clock, real-time fiber perimeter intrusion detection system (PIDS) that can be fence-mounted, buried, or deployed in a wall-top configuration.
Our world leading border technology is now available for perimeters.
Power Transmission Lines Monitoring
Gapless Monitoring of Distributed Power Transmission Networks. Utilising the existing grid infrastructure with Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensing.

Sintela’s ONYX™ peta system uses advanced Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology, to collect and analyse real-time, quantitative data to identify active intrusions on each pylon, detection of hazardous / anomalous activity near the high-voltage line, condition monitoring of high-voltage line insulators and detection of short-circuit points and lightning strikes on pylons and the high-voltage line.

Power Distribution Monitoring
The ONYX™ peta distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) system is ideally suited for monitoring power distribution lines, utilizing existing or dedicated fiber-optic cables installed along overhead or underground routes. It delivers real-time, continuous monitoring over long distances, enabling the detection of events such as line strikes, mechanical faults, tapping, or unauthorized activity near the infrastructure.
With advanced signal processing and virtual smart zoning, ONYX™ peta can precisely locate and classify events along complex and remote power networks. Its industry-leading sensitivity and noise rejection capabilities ensure dependable performance with minimal false alarms, even in harsh environmental conditions. As the need for reliable grid security grows, ONYX™ peta offers a cost-effective, scalable solution for critical infrastructure protection.
Real-Time Detection
The ONYX™ peta system for power line monitoring is capable of instantaneously identifying and locating disturbances—such as mechanical impacts, ground activity, or electrical faults—along power distribution routes with 3-meter accuracy. This precise detection capability enables rapid response to threats like unauthorized access, line strikes, or environmental interference, ensuring the integrity and safety of critical power infrastructure.
3m
Identification of events to within 3 meters, ensuring operationally effective data for rapid decision-making, accurate maintenance planning, and enhanced protection of critical power infrastructure.
130km
Monitored continuously per ONYX™ peta unit. Each system provides real-time acoustic sensing along the whole asset.
100%
The ONYX™ peta system delivers complete detection coverage for structural impacts or disturbances to pylons, including climbing, tampering, or ground-level activity.
ONYX™ peta proven detection capabilities
Distinct Acoustic Signatures for Reliable Threat Classification

Flashover’s , indicated by four sharp, simultaneous impulses on the waterfall plot. Unbolting, detected through discrete mechanical impacts on the structure.Drilling or cutting.
Automated Detection of Load Variations and Corona Discharge

Standing wave signal on the OPGW induced by current flowing through the conductors is clear visible and measurable. This can be used to measure changes to the current load between pylons including Corona discharge
Accurate Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) of Wind and Thermal Effects

Detecting wind and thermal effects on conductors, enabling real-time insights into environmental loading conditions for Dynamic Line Rating (DLR). By detecting vibrations, strain, and temperature-related changes along the fiber, the system supports accurate, condition-based capacity assessments—maximizing transmission efficiency while maintaining safe operating limits
