Job Description
Sintela is a rapidly growing company who specialize in Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensing systems. We are recruiting for a person to fill a Field Engineer role to support the installation, commissioning and support of fiber-optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) systems in North America. Sintela Inc is based in Houston but the job will entail travel throughout North America, so consideration will be given to working from home. The job will require working independently and as part of a deployment team. It will consist of:

    • Performing site surveys, including building the foundations of a successful working relationship with our clients
    • Managing logistics and setting up equipment at our client facilities
    • Commissioning of systems culminating in the successful implementation of a Site Acceptance Test
    • Training of end users on the operation of our systems via our User Interface
    • Remote and local maintenance and support of our systems
    • Acquisition of test data in support of the system development team in the UK

The successful candidate with report to the Global Operations Director.


Skills
The following are desired but are not essential:

    • Experience in handling optical fiber and fusion splicing
    • Familiar with the Linux operating system
    • Understanding of basics of IP network setup
    • Good written communication skills
    • Record keeping
    • Experience at providing user training
    • In possession of US Government security clearance
    • English and Spanish speaking

Job Description
Sintela is a fast-growing company working at the forefront of fibre-optic sensing and we are looking to expand our research and development support base.

As an Optical Research and Development Engineer you will work closely with the Research team, working on concepts and ideas to develop the next generation of products. You will be involved at every stage of the development cycle, from theoretical investigations of new ideas, numerical simulation of concept systems and signal processing schemes,  designing, constructing and performing laboratory experiments and taking successful concepts through to a field demonstrable prototype stage and at an advisory level when handing over to the product development team to ensure key requirements are captured in the product design.

We are highly driven by market requirements, hence time to product is of importance. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, who will ensure that high standards are maintained and can work within a deadline. You will be encouraged to patent your ideas and present optical concepts clearly to your colleagues, customers and occasionally at conferences.

This is a multidisciplinary role and a suitable candidate may initially only have partial experience in these fields but should be willing to learn in the role and expand their responsibilities.

Responsibilities

    • Theoretical investigations of new distributed optical sensing ideas
    • Numerical simulation of concept optical systems and signal processing schemes
    • Design, commissioning and performance of laboratory-based experiments and investigation of novel distributed optical sensing methods
    • Design, commissioning of field demonstrable test prototypes
    • Documentation of work
    • Patenting of novel ideas


Skills

    • Background in optical systems, distributed sensing optical systems preferred
    • Ideally experience in DAS, DTS, DTSS or similar
    • Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques used in optical sensing
    • Experience in Matlab, C, C++ or other high-level language
    • Work well under pressure and tight deadlines

    • Willingness to learn new skills
    • Successful Candidate should have a degree in a technical subject such as Physics or Engineering, preferably at a post graduate level.

Job Description
Sintela is a fast-growing company working at the forefront of fibre-optic sensing and we are looking to expand our product development team.

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will be integral to the hardware development team, working across product design and development, as well as supporting production activities. You will be involved at every stage of the development cycle, from generation of new ideas, 3D modelling of concepts, thermal simulation of concepts, generating drawings and documentation packs for manufacture, first-off builds, and ongoing production support.We are highly driven by market requirements, hence time to market is of importance. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, who will ensure that high standards are maintained and can work within a deadline.

This is a multidisciplinary role and a suitable candidate may initially only have partial experience in these fields but should be willing to learn and expand their capabilities and responsibilities.This role will be based in our office on the outskirts of Bristol, and we are happy to accommodate flexible working arrangements.
