Security
Improve border security, prevent illegal crossings, smuggling activities and unauthorised intrusions with Sintela’s ONYX™ system.
Using advanced Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology, ONYX™ collects and analyses real-time, quantitative data to identify active intrusions, allowing for rapid and precise response.
Continous Monitoring
ONYX™ peta constantly observes along the entire length of the fiber-optic cable, ensuring total surveillance of border zones, even in remote and hard-to-reach locations.
Sintela’s Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology transforms standard fiber optics into thousands of virtual microphones capable of detecting and classifying surface, subsurface and fence based intrusion .
By using ONYX™ peta border patrols can sense disturbances at a 3 meter location accuracy along the fiber, providing full situational awareness for all intrusions from fence climbing to tunnel detection.
Real-Time Detection
Capable of instantaneously identifying and pinpointing acoustic disturbances such as footsteps, vehicle movements, and fence disturbances, ONYX™ facilitates rapid response and intervention.
Border Deployment Options
Rapid Deployment
ONYX™ peta can be deployed rapidly with fibers buried next to or mounted on border fences. Simple integration into existing infrastructure like CCTV and radar towers ensuring border patrols achieve a full situational awareness to support their concept of operations.
Ideal for urban borders
Can be fence mounted

Increased Surveillance
In addition to a standard ONYX™ peta border deployment, fiber can be installed along access routes to extend monitoring capabilities. This expanded setup enables border patrols to detect and track intrusions more effectively, allowing them to deploy personnel to the correct locations for faster interdictions.

Full coverage in complex noisy environments
In noisy urban environments, additional surveillance can be achieved by placing a dual redundant sensing fiber directly on the border fence. This setup ensures enhanced detection accuracy. The software intelligently aligns all detections between the fence, primary, and secondary fibers, allowing the system to verify events across all fiber lines. This seamless integration ensures that border patrol teams only need to respond to a single, verified event, improving response efficiency and reducing false alarms.

Effective Border Security with ONYX™ peta: Real-Time Detection and Rapid Response
The ONYX™ peta is deployed worldwide on multiple international borders, delivering dependable security across diverse environments. In this example, the fiber is mounted directly on the fence line, covering a 30 km section of the border. The system automatically detects any fence cutting activity in real-time, immediately alerting security teams. As shown in the picture, a patrol vehicle is dispatched to the exact location of the breach, where it intercepts the individual who cut the fence and attempted to illegally enter the country. This highlights the effectiveness of the ONYX™ peta in operational environments, enabling swift responses and enhancing border security.
