Sintela is pleased to announce its participation as a sponsor at CAVING 2026, the International Conference on Block and Sublevel Caving, taking place from 11–13 August 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Bringing together mining professionals, researchers, engineers, and technology providers from across the world, CAVING 2026 will focus on the latest developments in cave mining, geomechanics, monitoring, and operational practices. Sintela will be joining this global platform to share how advanced sensing technologies can support safer, more informed decision-making in complex underground environments.
Event Details
Event: CAVING 2026 – International Conference on Block and Sublevel Caving
Date: 11–13 August 2026
Location: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Sintela’s Role: Sponsor, Exhibitor & Technical Paper Presenter
Why CAVING 2026 Matters
Underground mining environments are constantly changing. Understanding what’s happening beneath the surface isn’t just about collecting data; it’s about having the right information at the right time to make confident operational decisions.
CAVING 2026 brings together experts to discuss some of the industry’s biggest challenges, including cave design, fragmentation and flow, geotechnical monitoring, mine seismicity, risk management, and rock mass behaviour.
And when conditions underground can shift quickly, having continuous and reliable monitoring insights can make a meaningful difference.
Sintela’s Participation at CAVING 2026
At the event, Sintela will be showcasing its expertise in Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) and its role in helping mining teams gain deeper visibility into underground conditions.
Visitors will have the opportunity to connect with the Sintela team, discuss real-world monitoring challenges, and learn how sensing solutions can support better understanding of subsurface behaviour.

Visit Sintela’s Booth
Sintela’s booth will be a space to learn more about our technology, discuss project requirements, and connect with our technical team.
Booth Number: 22
At the booth, you’ll be able to learn more about:
- A hands-on DAS demonstration and demonstration of Sintela’s geotechnical monitoring software platform, including data visualization, event interpretation, alarm management, and monitoring workflows.
- DFOS monitoring strategies for block and sublevel caving operations.
- Sintela’s end-to-end fibre optic monitoring services, including system design, fibre specification and selection, installation support, commissioning, data integration, and ongoing operational support.
- Geotechnical and mining monitoring workflows that help transform fibre optic data into actionable operational insights.
Technical Paper Presentation
Beyond the exhibition floor, Sintela will also contribute to the technical discussions at CAVING 2026 through two paper presentations:
Paper Title 1: Field Learnings and Future Directions of Distributed Fibre Optics Sensing Technology in Cave Management
Presenter: Dr. Zara anderson
Paper Title 2: Velocity Model Uncertainty in Block Cave Microseismic Monitoring: A Case for Distributed Acoustic Sensing
Presenter: Jon Furlong
The first presentation will highlight field learnings from recent DFOS deployments in mining and caving environments, including the use of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and Distributed Strain Sensing (DSS) to monitor microseismicity, strain evolution, fracture development, and cave propagation. It will offer insights into how modern monitoring approaches can complement conventional geotechnical instrumentation and support more continuous, high-resolution understanding of underground rock mass behaviour.
The second presentation will highlight how seismic velocity model uncertainty remains one of the largest sources of error in microseismic event location and demonstrate how the dense spatial sampling provided by DAS can improve location robustness compared to conventional geophone arrays. The paper also explores the complementary role of DAS and geophone technologies, showing how combined monitoring approaches can provide more reliable insights for cave tracking, geotechnical risk management, and underground mining safety.
Connect With Sintela at CAVING 2026
CAVING 2026 is more than just a conference; it’s a place where mining professionals come together to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and explore technologies shaping the future of underground operations.
Sintela looks forward to connecting with industry leaders, sharing knowledge, and discussing how advanced monitoring solutions can support safer and more efficient mining environments.
If you’re attending CAVING 2026, make sure you stop by the Sintela booth and start a conversation with our team.
