Sintela Announces $10m Investment in New US Headquarters to Expand Distributed Fiber Sensing Capability for Government and Defence Applications.

Ann Arbor, Michigan | 14th Jan 2026 – Sintela today announced a $10m investment to expand its distributed fiber sensing capability in the United States, supporting increased demand from government, defence, and critical infrastructure customers. The investment is anchored by the opening of Sintela’s new US headquarters for distributed fiber sensing on Technology Drive in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Sintela closed 2025 with $70m in US orders, reflecting sustained programme execution and growing confidence in distributed fiber sensing as a reliable, scalable solution for high-consequence security and monitoring requirements.

The Ann Arbor site has already welcomed its first 15 employees, with additional technical and engineering hires planned in the coming months. This investment complements Sintela’s established base in Houston, Texas, strengthening its national footprint and improving access to customers and partners across the United States and Canada.

The Technology Drive facility will serve as a global technical centre of excellence for distributed fiber sensing, offering secure customer demonstration and training capabilities, a 24/7 secure operations centre, and housing Sintela’s Autonomous Detection Group. The facility will support rapid deployment, mission-focused development, and scalable delivery for programmes across the US and allied markets.

Distributed fiber sensing is ideally suited to protecting and monitoring critical national infrastructure and national security assets, including borders, energy, utilities, transportation, and defence facilities. Sintela’s ONYX™ suite of products is trusted by customers and partners for its industry-leading sensing performance, high reliability, and operationally proven outcomes—combined with simple implementation, intuitive software, and solutions designed for real-world environments.

“Government and defence clients are very demanding of technical performance – but trust and local support is essential,” said Magnus McEwen-King, CEO of Sintela. “Our customers rely on Sintela technology to deliver accurate, dependable detection in demanding conditions, where operational confidence and mission continuity matter most. This investment in our Ann Arbor centre of excellence strengthens our secure delivery capability in the United States and reinforces our commitment to supporting the customers and partners who place their trust in Sintela.”

Sintela has supported critical infrastructure monitoring and border security initiatives in the United States since 2017. This investment reflects Sintela’s long-term commitment to the US market and its continued focus on delivering world-class sensing technology where reliability, security, and trusted performance are vital.
